Vita Dzumedzei Our 2025 Scholarship winner

To the Scholarship Committee,
It is my pleasure to recommend Vita Dzumedzei for the 2025 Photographer’s
Rendezvous scholarship in Photography. As her instructor in both photography and digital media
courses at Fresno City College, I have had the opportunity to witness her exceptional technical
skill, creative insight, and genuine generosity as both an artist and a peer.
Vita is a remarkably skilled technical photographer, excelling in both studio lighting and
composition. Her attention to detail is unmatched; she approaches each shoot with meticulous
preparation and executes her vision with clarity and precision. Her food photography project,
which earned her the 2024 Barsam Award for Outstanding Student Photographer, was a stunning
example of her ability to combine technical mastery with artistic sensibility. The images were
beautifully composed, carefully lit, and conveyed a refined visual sophistication far beyond the
expectations for a student at her level.
In the classroom, Vita is deeply engaged and contributes meaningfully to the learning
community. She is consistently available to assist her classmates—sharing her extensive
knowledge of lighting setups and Photoshop techniques with patience and enthusiasm. This
collaborative spirit has made her a leader among her peers and a valued member of our program.
More recently, I have had the pleasure of teaching Vita in an Adobe Illustrator course, where she
has shown great promise in the field of design as well. Her strong visual instincts translate
seamlessly from photography to digital illustration, revealing her versatility and expanding
creative potential.
Vita’s combination of technical excellence, artistic maturity, and generosity of spirit make her an
outstanding candidate for this scholarship. I am confident she will continue to excel and make
meaningful contributions to the photographic arts.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Mathis
